Mbali ...
Mbali is a South African social innovator and AI literacy strategist with over 14 years of experience working across global contexts. She has consulted for leading social enterprises and international NGOs, including UN Women and Amnesty International, to drive systemic impact across Southern Africa, the UK, the Americas, Europe, West Africa, and the MENA region.
Her current work sits at the intersection of AI, culture, and accelerated learning — with a focus on localising global AI systems through the creation of accessible and culturally intelligent tools. From inclusive UX strategies to context-aware GPTs, Mbali designs AI experiences that speak to real people in real places. Her AI literacy work equips users to navigate emerging technologies on their own terms: with clarity, creativity, and critical insight.
She is the creator of The Sagai Story, a sci-fi novella that reimagines key events in South Africa’s apartheid history through the lens of a future shaped by AI "haves" and "have-nots".
Mbali also consults on the generative AI teaching & learning programme for the humanities faculty at the University of the Witwatersrand, helping shape how educators engage with generative AI across disciplines.
Beyond her educational and innovation work, she has delivered keynotes for global corporations including MasterCard and L’Oréal, and featured as a regular subject matter expert on South Africa’s leading talk radio station, 702.
